Original Prompt: Small-town elementary schoolteacher Kim Cassidy -- gorgeous and sweet -- had fallen for a crook while on a cruise, without a clue who he really was. Now she was home, waiting for her prince, and secret agent Nick Callahan's task was to track her every move.

Watching a gorgeous blonde all day? No problem. But in small-town Georgia, hiding was impossible, and he and Kim became friends. Keeping the truth from this kind, pretty woman was getting harder. Then a kiss -- a passionate one -- complicated things even more.

He would still protect her. The question was, from whom?

Summary: Small-town middle school teacher Jared Padalecki had fallen for a criminal while on a cruise, without a clue who she really was. Now he was home, waiting for her to contact him again, and undercover cop Jensen Ackles' job was to track Padalecki's every move.

Leaving feedback here.

This was all sorts of amazing. Firstly because the whole "undercover cop" scenario is sort of very close to my heart for various non-fandom related reasons (no, I'm not one myself in case you were wondering) so seeing it in a fic always makes me squeal like a demented seal. Secondly, because I have great love for clichés, especially when they are handled this well and tongue in cheek. And thirdly simply because of all the awesome details: Sandy-the-cocaine-trafficker, Chad, Jensen's sudden realisation he wants Jared, Jared kissing him back... I could go on... Loved this to bits, thank you so much for sharing!

Mmm, I love the undercover cop scenario, too! Secrets and lies and Big Reveals have something to do with its appeal for me, I think. :D

Omg, it does! *facepalm* What it links to is the test-run of this post, which looks exactly the same as this except for the fact that it's a private entry. So that explains why I didn't catch it before, but still. DUH. Thanks so much for letting me know! It's fixed now. :D

I was just checking out your fic list, seeing if I had missed anything really long from you lately and got caught in a moment of unsureness of which one of the fics with this prompt was yours (just the one I thought it was, turns out) and then I got really confused with the 'you are not authorized to read this' -message because I was pretty damn sure I had read this before :) Had a moment of scare you had taken this out altogether (and that would really be a shame) before my brain catched up with me :D

I just realized that although I have read this multiple times and recced it to others, I have NEVER reviewed it. I am a bad, BAD lurker! But anyway, I have so much love for this fic, I can't even properly express it. I love how Jen is supposed to be all covert and Jared ambushes him while he's taking out the trash. Good job. Very stealthy. And then AGAIN at the grocery store. Your DEA training is no match for the Padalecki Puppy Eyes of DOOM! I love how Jared just sort of sucks Jensen in like a black hole of shiny bouncy happiness until Jensen almost forgets why he's in town in the first place. Because it's so TRUE TO LIFE. The way you see Jen in interviews when he forgets about the camera and he's just looking at Jared with this little smile on his face, like, I love you, you ginormous dork, and I have no idea how it happened. And omg, CHAD. *pets him, then disinfects hands* You have no skills with women, precious. It's really kind of sad. *cuddles fic and feeds it cookies*
Also I would have much love for a coda or timestamp. I would even review it in a timely fashion!

I've recently discovered that I'm a picky reader in terms of characterization for J2 fics but your fic definitely pushes all the right buttons! Great plot and pacing, but what really captured me was the details as their relationship progressed. Thanks for sharing!
